We used to walk the railroad
and try not to miss the ties,
then I would walk the rail
and sometimes fall and cry.
He would make a fishing pole
from a big tree limb,
and when we'd fish our poles wouldn't break
but, oh! how they would bend.
We would fish nearly every day
at Grandpa's favorite spot,
those ol' poles weren't very good
but we sure caught a lot.
Now my Grandpa's up and gone
but I know where he's at,
he's walking the ties and catching fish
and you can bet on that.
