I didn't want to get up today,
No one else was around.
The valley below was a foggy gray
And frost was on the ground.
Coffee in hand, I stared outside
And caught some flickers of white:
There they were, side by side,
Transfixed in dawn's early light -
A pair of foraging fauns shone through,
Their mother close behind.
Time stood still; they did, too.
Their beauty filled my mind!
Too soon the fog had snatched them back
But I didn't care at all -
Even though they ate and ran
It was nice of them to call.
